ERD “Becomes Self-Delusion” Nine-Grid T-Shirt — Black

When the image becomes self-delusion. ERD becomes a symbol.

Black heavyweight cotton. The front carries a nine-panel grid of black and white photographs, framed by text on three sides — an arrangement that reads less like a garment graphic and more like a page from a manifesto or a contact sheet pinned to a wall.

The grid, three by three: a violin in the upper left. A distorted or obscured figure. A hand holding a cat. A close-up of curved fingers. At the center — the only cell given to a legible human face — a person wearing glasses, looking directly forward, calm, the most ordinary image in the grid and therefore the most unsettling. More hands. More cats. The violin again in the lower right, closing the diagonal it opened in the upper left. The grid is not a story. It is a taxonomy — instruments, animals, faces, hands — each thing reduced to its category by the frame around it.

The text around the grid names what is happening:

Above, in pink: BECOVMS SELF-DELUSION — becomes spelled with a V instead of an E, the substitution deliberate, the word slightly wrong in a way that makes you read it twice. When an image repeats often enough, it stops referring to itself and starts referring to the idea of itself. The violin is no longer a violin. The face is no longer a face. They become what you expect when you see them: symbols.

On the right, in pink, running vertically: ERD AS A SYMBOL — the brand making its own diagnosis. Not ERD as a label. Not ERD as a name. ERD as a symbol: a thing that has been looked at long enough that it no longer means what it depicts.

On the left, in white, reversed or mirrored: SELF-IMAGE — inverted, as though reflected, as though the self-image can only be read backward from the outside.

ERD builds this shirt the way a theorist builds an argument: image, frame, repetition, symbol. The cats and the violin keep coming back. The face in the center stays still. The grid holds everything in place, and the text tells you exactly what the grid is doing to everything inside it.
